چکیده
Ultrasonic pulse-echo C-scan imaging is a widespread method for detecting and characterizing defects in fiber reinforced polymer composites. However, the accurate assessment of complex distributed damage cluster, like barely visible impact damage, multi-layer heterogeneous composites not straightforward. For reliably estimating remaining load carrying capacity and/or useful lifetime damaged composite, proper complete utmost importance. In this paper, statistical time-energy gating approach proposed view obtaining improved ultrasonic impacted The majority virgin A-scan signals are first clustered by analyzing their back-wall echoes. Impact Damage Detection of Toughened CFRP Laminates with Time Domain
Laminated Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composites are very effective in weight saving in aeronautical structural components. For these laminated CFRP structures, it is, however, difficult to detect damage such as delamination, matrix cracks, and local fiber breakages caused by low velocity impact loading In the previous study in 2009, Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) method was applied...
متن کاملUltrasonic NDE Techniques for Impact Damage Inspection on CFRP Laminates
This study investigates the different types of ultrasonic inspection, when applied to assess the impact damage in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic CFRP laminates. The study surveys the two most used ultrasonic testing approaches first; namely the pulse-echo and the through-transmission modes. Then, the manuscript discusses and analyzes the enhanced ultrasonic testing methods that use the polar s...
متن کاملLinear and Nonlinear Guided Wave Imaging of Impact Damage in CFRP Using a Probabilistic Approach
The amount and variety of composite structures that need to be inspected for the presence of impact damage has grown significantly in the last few decades. In this paper, an application of a probabilistic ultrasonic guided wave imaging technique for impact damage detection in carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) is presented. On the one hand, a linear, baseline-dependent, technique utilizing...
